It is very important for all bank customers to keep their mobile number on their account up to date. There are a lot of things that will be missed like SMS alerts if the number is not registered. In this article, we are going to learn how to enable SMS alerts in Canara Bank.

Here you have to understand one thing. And that is according to the regulations of the Reserve Bank of India. The bank must send the SMS alert to the customer for all transactions (debit card, online, and UPI) taking place in the bank account. So there is no way for customers to change that.

But you can change the preference of SMS alerts for branch transactions you make. If you wish, you can change the limit beyond which you can receive the SMS alert on your registered mobile number. You can set different limits for debit and credit transactions.

For example, if you want to receive an SMS alert only for branch transactions over Rs. 6,000 for debit and credit transactions.

In this case, you will receive an SMS alert if you make a branch transaction of Rs. 6,001 and more. But on the other hand, you will not receive an SMS if you make a transaction for an amount less than Rs. 6,000.

The Process to Enable SMS Alerts in Canara Bank

To enable SMS alerts in Canara Bank, you must first visit the bank’s official website. And log into your account by entering your customer ID and password.

Once logged into your account, click on “Services”. In the service menu, you must select “Enable SMS alerts”.

Now, by default, your registered mobile number will be selected for SMS alerts. This number cannot be changed online. If you wish to do so, you will need to visit your home branch.

Enter the amount in Rupees above which you wish to receive SMS alerts for debit and credit transactions and click the “Continue” button.

You will be redirected to the confirmation page. Now enter your transaction password and the OTP that you will receive on your mobile number.

In the end, click on the “Submit” button to submit your request to the bank. If you have not received the OTP, you can click on “Regenerate OTP” or “Receive OTP on Call” to request a new OTP.
