The Joint Commission has been accrediting hospitals for over 70 years. Today, The Joint Commission accredits approximately 3,800 general, pediatric, long term acute, psychiatric, rehabilitation and specialty hospitals. Approximately 80% of the nation’s hospitals are currently accredited by The Joint Commission, and approximately 85% of hospitals that are accredited in the U.S. are accredited by The Joint Commission. The hospital accreditation experience with The Joint Commission includes support from a dedicated staff who help a hospital navigate the accreditation process and interpret the standards. Data analytics tools also are provided to support hospitals in driving quality improvement and reducing risk within their organization. Employed surveyors conduct the on-site survey and are assigned based on professional and educational background, providing best practices to hospital staff. The on-site survey features the unique tracer methodology, which follow patients’ care during their hospital experience.
The Joint Commission uses an annual subscription billing model which spreads accreditation costs over a three-year period. The on-site survey fee is invoiced after the on-site survey is concluded and covers survey-related costs. For more information, contact the Joint Commission’s pricing unit at 630-792-5115 or .
